What To Expect Today At Apple’s ‘Hi, Speed’ Event

Finally, Apple will announce the new iPhones tonight!

There are four new iPhone models expected. There will likely be an iPhone 12, 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max, and a smaller phone called the iPhone 12 Mini. Our whole team is very excited about the new iPhones!

So, let’s review the most significant iPhone 12 series leak. And remember – don’t buy an iPhone now, unless it’s completely necessary, because the new iPhones will be pretty awesome!

  1. Multiple iPhone 12 sizes

Mobile industry analysts suggest that there will be four sizes of the iPhone 12.

The smallest of them, the iPhone 12 Mini, will be 5.4-inch. There are two base models, the iPhone 12 and 12 Pro, both expected to be 6.1 inches, which is slightly bigger than the iPhone 11 Pro – 5.8-inch size. Finally, there’s the iPhone 12 Pro Max – it is rumoured that it will be 6.7 inches, you’ll need a big pocket to keep this superphone safe.

  1. Colours

Apple is rumoured to be preparing a new navy blue colour for the iPhone 12. The blue is likely to be the same as the blue Apple Watch Series 6, which Apple introduced as a new colour in September.

Other iPhone 12 Pro colours will include silver, gold, and graphite, while the standard iPhone 12 models will be available in black, white, red, blue, and green.

  1. Design, cameras and notch

The new iPhone design will resemble the iPhone 4 with a squared-edged stainless steel or aluminium frame. Standard iPhone 12 models will have an aluminium frame and the Pro models – a stainless one. All four models will use front and back glass for the body of the device. However, Apple may introduce a new “Ceramic Shield” glass screen that could be more resistant to scratches and drops.

All iPhones in 2020 will feature OLED Super Retina XDR display technology regardless of price. Also, there are rumours that Apple would use a new TrueDepth camera system that cuts down on the size of the notch on the front, but leaks are mixed on this subject.

According to PhoneArena, there will be a potential fourth lens in the phone’s rear camera – that would be a LiDAR Scanner, which would provide more accurate depth information for improved photography and augmented reality functions – we’re very excited about this one!

It would be nice to have a Touch ID button like Apple included on the new iPad Air. This is especially useful during the age of coronavirus mask-wearing, but our hopes aren’t high.

  1. 5G connectivity

Apple will introduce 5G support in the iPhone, allowing the new devices to connect to 5G networks that are much faster than 4G LTE networks. According to rumours, all of the iPhones in the iPhone 12 lineup will feature 5G connectivity. However, it’s not clear if all iPhone 12 models will have super fast mmWave support, and reports suggest mmWave speeds may be limited to some countries.

  1. A14 Bionic chip

There are rumours that TSMC will manufacture the 5-nanometer chips Apple will use in its 2020 iPhones. The 5-nanometer process will produce chips that are smaller and faster.

The A14 chip could feature a 15 per cent increased performance and a 30 per cent reduction in power consumption compared to the A13 chip. Also, the A14 chip will focus on speeding up artificial intelligence and AR tasks.

It is believed, that the four iPhones will feature different amounts of RAM – a 6.7-inch iPhone with 6GB RAM, a 6.1-inch iPhone with 6GB RAM, a 6.1-inch iPhone with 4GB RAM, and a 5.4-inch iPhone with 4GB RAM.

  1. Battery

There will be three different batteries for the new iPhones. The three capacities include 2,227 mAh (most probably for the 5.4-inch iPhone), 2,775 mAh (for the 6.1-inch iPhone), and 3,687 mAh (for the 6.7-inch iPhone). Comparatively, the iPhone 11 Pro has a 3,046 mAh battery, the 11 Pro Max has a 3,969 mAh battery, and the iPhone 11 has a 3,110 mAh battery.

It’s not known if these battery capacities are accurate, but if they are, with processor improvements, battery life could be about the same as the iPhone 11 models. 5G connectivity is a concern, however, so we’ll need to wait to see how battery life in the iPhone 12 compares to iPhone 11 battery life.

  1. Accessories

In addition to the new iPhones, Apple will introduce new accessories during tonight’s event, including a new HomePod and a brand new over-ear headphone.

To make the HomePod more popular and affordable, the company will launch a smaller version of the speaker – HomePod mini. The device will be half the size of a traditional HomePod, but it will support the same features such as Siri, AirPlay 2, and HomeKit.

Apple is also developing new wireless chargers for iPhone 12. Leakers claim that these chargers will be called MagSafe Charger and MagSafe Duo Charger, and they will be magnetically attached to the back of the iPhone.

The AirPods Studio most probably will also be announced. It is rumoured that AirPods Studio will feature head and neck detection, and a custom equaliser settings.

Apple will hold a special event tonight to introduce the iPhone 12 lineup. You have read everything expected for tonight’s presentation, and we want to know: what are you most excited to see at Apple’s event?
